A Seminar on FGM, Asylum and Refugee Policies in the UK

FORWARD

Female genital mutilation (FGM) is globally recognised as a human rights violation and a form of gender-based persecution.

This seminar aims to clarify and assess UK policies and realities in relation to FGM asylum, refugees and young women.

This seminar targets practitioners, policy makers and key agencies.

The seminar is part of an on-going project funded by the European Commission Daphne Programme on improving FGM legislation and actions in Europe.

The seminar will include:
* The context of FGM in the UK
* An overview on UK policies and legislation: Asylum and refugee issues
* Analysis of UK government policy on asylum, refugees and young people
* Research on FGM, asylum seekers and young refugees
* Refugee and Asylum dispersal policy: challenges and issues
