Consultancy support from HR specialist (pro bono) sought by Fawcett
The Fawcett Society needs to carry out a Job Evaluation and Rewards Review. The project will be led by a working group of the Fawcett Society, supported by an HR specialist who will provide pro-bono consultancy support.
The following list shows the terms of reference for the review:
Aims and objectives
- To review the job evaluation scheme to ensure it is fit for purpose, reflects the current and future skills requirements and supports the organisation’s growth;
- To review pay and promotions policies to ensure they are fit for current purpose and future growth;
- To review the total rewards and benefits package to ensure it is market competitive and, if necessary, develop a strategy for change that meets staffing needs and is affordable;
- Throughout the process to secure staff and Trustee understanding and buy-in and to develop jointly a system that fairly rewards and supports staff development.
Scope
This review process will be wide in scope, encompassing job evaluation, pay and promotion policy and market reviews of rewards.
Each of these processes will be considered discretely (for example, the job evaluation process is a way of checking that ranking within the organisation is correct and not of determining salary). The working group will, additionally, give due consideration to how each of these parts works together to promote organisational effectiveness and to support and reward staff.
Job evaluation
The job evaluation factors and ranking system will be reviewed and amended to ensure that it fully reflects the organisation’s current and anticipated skills needs.
Pay and promotion policy
The pay and promotion policy will be reviewed to ensure that it is fit for purpose currently and into the future.
Total rewards and benefits package
For the first time, Fawcett will fully review the total rewards and benefits package offered to its staff. This will include pay and non-statutory benefits (e.g. travel card allowance, additional maternity pay, holiday allowances etc.) to review for market competitiveness. A strategy for future development of the rewards and benefits package may follow from this, dependent on what the review reveals.
Resources
The project will be led by a working group chaired by the consultant with the Business and Finance Manager, two Trustees drawn from the Resources Group and a staff representative as its members.
The role of the consultant, accountability and involvement
The consultant will lead this project, coordinate the appropriate resources and deliver background research as appropriate. S/he will report to the Working Group (as detailed above) and for daily matters to the Business and Finance Manager. The Director will be available to provide advice and guidance as necessary.
If you feel you are able to provide this pro-bono capacity voluntarily to help us to do the review which may stretch between 2 – 4 months and take between 5 – 10 working days of your consultancy time, please contact our Business and Finance Manager Daniel Dele-Ojo by telephone on 0207 253 2598 or by filling in the form at http://www.fawcettsociety.org.uk/index.asp?Pageid=861.
