Recycle your mobile phone to help Refuge support women and children who have experienced domestic violence
The scale of domestic violence in this country is breathtaking: one woman in four will experience it at some point in her lifetime, and two women are killed by a current or former partner every week. At Refuge, we have been working for over 35 years to combat this problem, and today our various services support over 1,000 women and children on any given day to escape domestic violence and build a safe and positive future.
We are asking supporters to recycle their old, unused mobile phone handsets for Refuge. This is a great cost-free way to raise funds: it costs nothing to donate, it’s good for the environment, and for every handset send in, Refuge receive £3.50. This soon adds up to a really great amount which really does make a huge difference to the women and children that we support.
Are there any phones lying around in your home?
Perhaps you received a new handset for Christmas and now have a spare?
You can send your phones in by freepost to our partner Greener Solutions by addressing your envelope to Refuge, Greener Solutions, FREEPOST, LON17592, Mitcham, CR4 3UZ.
Alternatively, you can download one of our freepost labels by visiting our website http://www.refuge.org.uk. We can also send you special freepost recycling envelopes if you would like.
Perhaps you would be able to promote this scheme at your local women’s group or network? We really would appreciate it if you could get involved. Contact Harriet on 020 7395 7713 or email her for more information.
