Enfield Women’s Forum / Network – exploratory meeting on Wednesday 25th February
1.00 – 3.00 at United Reform Church Hall, College Court, EN3 4EY
We are unable to provide lunch but tea/coffee will be available.
We are writing following the very successful joint workshop with the Enfield Community Empowerment Network, looking at issues of interest to women in Enfield. It was very well attended and one of its outcomes was a call to explore the feasibility of setting up a Women’s Forum / Network to enable women to have a louder, more noticeable, voice in shaping services for themselves and their families in Enfield. As stated at that time Enfield Women’s Centre are convening a ‘next steps’ meeting to look at this and other questions
You will recall that the three topics discussed at the 19th January meeting were:
1) Health & Leisure,
2) Women’s Safety and
3) Regeneration.
Since then Enfield Women’s Centre facilitated a workshop at the PCT conference on barriers and access to healthcare at the Royal Chace Hotel on Monday 26th January. (If you would like a copy of our report of the workshop, which includes information we have compiled as a result of research carried out, please contact us.)
We are also delighted to inform you that we will have a presentation from Georgia Wrighton, a representative of the Women’s Design Service who have London Councils funding to set up a Women’s Design Group across a number of London Boroughs including Enfield. They want to “increase community engagement & participation (by women) in local & regional planning & policy development”. “Women’s Design Groups include both women who are professionally involved in planning and women from the community who want to become more knowledgeable and engaged with issues affecting their neighbourhoods.”
We also hope to discuss a number of issues under the heading “Do we need a Women’s Network / Forum“? These include:
* what the purpose/function of the network might be,
* who might participate,
* how often meetings might be,
* alternative ways of participating as we can’t all make meetings all the time,
* identify what people might consider would be priority issues for immediate consideration/action.
This is an event at which we need your attendance, support, and input, so please come and help get this off the ground. You won’t be disappointed. Be in on it at the start.
Please confirm your attendance either by email to info@enfieldwomen.org.uk or by phone on 0208 351 8934 by Tuesday 24th February.
