Invitation to take part in internet broadcasting
We are currently experimenting with a pilot series of monthly internet broadcasts from our studio in west London to see if we can develop a sustainable model for an internet radio station, the purpose of which will be to give a voice to women from the many diverse communities living in London, to build good communication between women. We have trained women who are now keen to take part in producing and presenting programmes. The first broadcast was successful – we did an arts programme and an hour of topics and chat of general interest to women. We are now developing ideas and recording items for the next few evenings of broadcasting which are planned for the last week of each month. We want to develop a programme strand that will be an opportunity to present and discuss topics of interest to feminists and to publicise any initiatives or campaigns.
At the moment the broadcasts are very much a learning process for all concerned and not open access, but anyone interested in listening can request the link. The idea of limiting the access at the moment is to give us chance to develop the programming without laying ourselves open to too much comment before we have got it right.
If you would be interested helping to develop this by taking part in February or in any future month, or just want to discuss the possibilities can you please contact us directly. We can either pre-record or invite people in to be studio guests in a live broadcast – we are open to any ideas you may have. Just in case you wondered, there is no cost involved. Participation will be on a voluntary basis.
