Rights of Women services are available to women across London

ROW has been commissioned by London Councils to provide services across Greater London aimed at supporting women affected by domestic violence and sexual violence.

Free legal advice and information for women affected by domestic and sexual violence

Staffed by qualified solicitors and barristers, our established legal advice lines provide free and confidential legal advice to women affected by domestic violence and sexual violence. We deliver vital and urgent advice to women on legal remedies available to them through the family and criminal justice systems as well as signposting to solicitors and other support organisations. Details of both our advice lines are here – Rights of Women sexual violence advice line and Rights of Women advice line eg domestic violence, divorce, child contact – and more information can be found on our website at the following link http://www.rightsofwomen.org.uk/adviceline.php

Hard copies of the flyer for the advice line are available. Please contact me if you would like to receive copies for display or circulation. We also produce a range of accessible legal information for women available to download from our website or in hard copy. Again, if you would like to receive copies of this information please contact me.

Training for professionals on domestic and sexual violence law

We will also be delivering a programme of training courses for professionals working with women affected by domestic and sexual violence. These courses to be delivered throughout London include Supporting survivors of domestic violence: domestic violence injunctions and the Domestic Violence Crime and Victims Act 2004 and Supporting survivors of sexual violence: the Sexual Offences Act 2003 and the criminal justice system.

For more information about our training courses please contact our Training Officer, Malinda Mukuma on 020 7251 6575 or training@row.org.uk. Hard copies of the programme line are available. Please contact Malinda if you would like to receive copies for display or circulation.

Building capacity in policy work for the women’s sector

We have also been commissioned to undertake policy and campaigning work aimed at increasing the capacity of women’s organisations to participate in policy and campaigning work.

In order to increase the capacity and participation of women’s organisations in policy work we are running a series of seminars and workshops as well as establishing a Women’s Legal Policy Network and producing a policy newsletter, Focus on Women.

For more details about this work please contact our Policy Officer, Shakiratu Sanusi on 020 7251 6575 or shaki@row.org.uk.
