the nia project provides a wide range of services for women and children who have experienced domestic violence and other forms of gender violence.
Parenting Project
We have received funding from The Parenting Fund to deliver an exciting new project working with parents who are affected by domestic violence, both as victims and perpetrators. This project will draw on international best practice.
Senior Parenting Worker (Mothers)
Part Time (28 hrs/week) including some evenings and weekends
NJC 31-35
The Parenting Worker will work with mothers who are affected by current or past domestic violence. She will deliver 1:1 and group work with women to help them to minimize the impact of violence on both children and parenting.
The post holder will have experience of parenting work and work with families affected by violence, preferably with families from BMER communities. She will have an excellent understanding of child protection.

DVIP is an independent organisation, providing specialist programmes for male perpetrators of domestic violence and support services for women and children who have experienced abuse. Our aim is to make women and children safer from domestic violence, and we are committed to maintaining our reputation for innovation.
The Parenting Worker (Fathers) will work with fathers who are have been/are abusive in their relationships. The postholder will deliver 1:1 work and groupwork to address abusive behaviours and increase safe, positive parenting.
The postholder will have a good understanding of working with male perpetrators of domestic violence and developing healthy fathering.

Preventing Sexual Exploitation
Young People’s Worker (Sexual Exploitation)
Full Time (35 hours/week)
NJC Scale 27-30
the nia project is looking for a dynamic, creative individual to deliver preventative work to help stop young people becoming sexually exploited.
The post holder will:
* Deliver preventative work in secondary schools and youth groups to groups of young people across London
* Work with young people to deliver and develop a training programme for professionals on this issue
* Develop, identify and share good practice in this field, including the delivery of a national conference
The successful applicant will have significant experience of working with vulnerable young people, as well as working in partnership to achieve good practice.
Independent Domestic Violence Advocate
Part time (28hours/week)
NJC Scale 27-30 pro rata
The post holder will be working within the Advocacy and Training Service to provide an effective and efficient service to women who are at high risk of experiencing domestic violence. The post holder will be experienced at assessing risk and providing advice and support in respect of gender violence, welfare, housing and legal issues. She will also be confident advocating for clients in a multi-agency setting. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and the ability and experience to work with women from communities in the Horn of Africa.
We are undertaking a new pan-London Family Learning Project working with mothers/carers and their children (0-16 yrs) from Black, minority ethnic and refugee communities who have been affected by domestic violence.
Family learning opportunities will be offered to enable mothers/carers and their children to learn together, developing new skills such as cookery, crafts and IT, whilst also developing parenting skills.
Play Worker (Family Learning)
Part Time (16hrs/week) including some evenings and weekends
£8.50 per hour
Based in Hackney (with travel across London required)
The Play Worker will work with the family learning team, across London, to provide childcare and play opportunities for children of all ages (0-16 years). The postholder will have a relevant level three qualification and experience of working with vulnerable children.
