Stripping The Illusion: The Lap Dancing Industry Exposed – Object – 1st July 2009
OBJECT short film screening of video testimony from women formerly in lap dancing.
OBJECT has worked with women formerly in lap dancing to produce a short film of video testimony. We will ‘premiere’ the film in the Houses of Parliament on Wednesday July 1st, 6.30pm – 8pm.
This will be followed by a panel discussion, chaired by Libby Brooks of the Guardian. Speakers will include women who have worked in the lap dancing industry, Dr Sasha Rakoff of OBJECT, Sheila Jeffreys (author of The Industrial Vagina: The Political Economy of the Global Sex Trade, 2008) and Kat Banyard of Fawcett Society.
The film will help raise funds for OBJECT’s campaigning and a new exit support service we are currently working to establish with ex-performers.
Date: Wednesday 1st July 2009
