Sessional Counsellor – Women and Girls Network – 7th July 2009
Women and Girls Network has, for over 21 years, specialised in providing holistic therapeutic services to women who have experienced historic or recent gendered violence, including childhood sexual abuse, domestic violence, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, rape, torture, trafficking.
We are developing our satellite counselling services in south London to meet the demand for culturally sensitive counselling for women from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic and Refugee (BAMER) communities.
We are seeking an experienced sessional counsellor who has at least three years’ post-qualifying experience. You must be willing and able to work flexibly: the work involves travel within and between the boroughs of Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark. Satellite partner venues and the days of service delivery may vary as new partner organisations come on-line.
An understanding of, and commitment to challenge gendered violence is essential as is an understanding of the issues faced by women from BAMER communities. The ability to deliver counselling in a community language would be an advantage.
WGN is a multi-cultural women’s organisation that provides a supportive, learning environment for all its staff. This post is open to women only; it is exempt under S7 (2) (e) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
