Young Women and Violence seminar and Accredited Training – WRC & WGN – 22nd October 2009 and February 2010
The Women’s Resource Centre (WRC) and Women and Girls’ Network (WGN) have been funded by London Councils to deliver a four-year project, Sharing Our Strengths, aimed at supporting London’s violence against women and children sector through the sharing of knowledge, skills and good practice. 1. Professional exchange seminar: Young Women and Violence (22 October 2009, 9:30 – 13:45)
This free seminar will showcase agencies that are working with young women and are at the forefront of best practice in the field.
These agencies deal regularly with the issues of sexual exploitation, forced marriage, female genital mutilation, domestic violence and gang violence, along with other forms of abuse.
The speakers will be:

2. Accredited training for frontline VAW workers (February – May 2010)
Counselling and Therapeutic Interventions for Working with Women Overcoming Experiences of Violence: A Multicultural and Feminist Approach
This course has developed out of Women and Girls Network’s (WGN) 12 years’ experience of training women who work with survivors of violence. This programme provides a comprehensive introduction to the issues involved in working with women to aid recovery from experiences of gendered violence.
The course itself is free to all organisations. The accreditation is free if your organisation is funded by London Councils under specifications 43, 59, 60, 61 & 63, 62, 65, 69, 70 or 72, otherwise there will be a charge for accreditation.
