The Greatest Silence – special screening to mark 16 Days of Action – WAN – 3rd Dec 2009

The Women’s Action Network, Amnesty International UK
present a screening at The Human Rights Action Centre,
17-25 New Inn Yard, London EC2A 3EA
Thursday, 3rd December, from 6.30 pm

Lisa Jackson’s electrifying documentary on rape by soldiers in DR Congo as a weapon of war, containing moving testimony from several women and chilling interviews with a few of the rapists, shatters the silence and challenges the impunity with which these crimes have been committed for more than a decade. Unforgettable viewing.

Followed by a Q and A session with Miriam Nabarro, SOAS, who has worked with women in DR Congo; Kate Nustedt, Executive Director in the UK of Women for Women, which works to help women in many conflict and post-conflict areas, including DR Congo, Sudan, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan; and Zarghona Rassa, Chair and founder of the British-Afghan Women’s Society, who has recent experience of what is going on beyond Kabul.
