Wandsworth Women’s Aid is a proactive and committed organisation offering safe accommodation and support to women and children experiencing domestic violence. We provide a children’s service across two projects, Wandsworth Women’s Aid and Shanti Women’s Aid.

P/T Child Worker (Six month contract)

This post provides a unique opportunity to work with children who have experienced domestic violence.
* You will support the children by listening and responding to their needs, working on an individual and group basis
* You will provide activities and groups for the children to help them settle into the refuge and support their integration into new schools/nurseries
* You will provide support and advice to women who have experienced domestic violence about matters relating to their children and parenting

Applicants will need to demonstrate
* Commitment to services for women and children affected by domestic violence.
* Proven experience of work in a relevant field.
* NVQ level 3 in childcare or equivalent qualification.
* Initiative, commitment and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
* We are specifically looking to recruit an Asian woman for the post based at the Shanti project who will work with the mothers and children from the South Asian community. Applicants will need to have an understanding of Asian cultural and community values and be bilingual in English and at least one Asian language (Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali or Gujarati)

Salary is £20,080 per annum (pro rata: £10,040), 17.5 hours per week
Benefits include 25 days leave (pro rata)
