A Women’s Agenda 2010 – An End to Sleaze or More of the Same – Survey Results

This year our Women’s Agenda survey results seem to show we have become less angry about the political system, just more cynical and disillusioned. To quote one respondent “ … What’s to say. We’ve been completely shafted …”

However women still seemed committed to voting with Labour slightly loosing favour locally but holding their own nationally.

And locally the most important issues for women seem to be education and affordable housing, whilst nationally this is Iran-Iraq-disarmament, followed by Health and defending the NHS.

In response to the idea of one single new law or existing law that would make a difference to women’s lives these turned out to be equal paternity rights to create a flexible parental leave system and for more effort and enforcement of equal pay legislation.

And as to women’s core services and the possibility of a national funding policy, no one seemed to have much faith in any party or pact delivering that. Labour seems to be thought to be the single party most likely to deliver such a funding system, but women seem to think it is even more likely to happen with a Labour-LibDem pact.

This year although slightly more younger women took part, but more of the respondents were white, with fewer women from minority ethnic groups taking part.

You can download a copy of the results as a word document from http://www.womeninlondon.org.uk/download/AWomensAgenda2010SurveyResults.doc

And please do consider taking part of further discussion as part of our Women’s Agenda facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=116843805001512&v=wall

With many many thanks to all who took part and we hope you find it interesting to know what other women are thinking and saying.
