Outreach/Settlement Worker – Jewish Women’s Aid – 28th May 2010
Jewish Women’s Aid is the only charity in the UK working with Jewish women affected by domestic violence. We run a refuge, community support service, helpline and education and awareness raising programmes.
We are looking for a: Outreach/Resettlement Worker
35 hours per week (job-share/part-time working will be considered)
From £25,331 (dependent on experience)
One year contract
Working across the community, you will provide a vital lifeline for women experiencing physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse, as well as a resettlement service for women moving on from our refuge. You will offer practical and emotional support including: risk and needs assessment, key work, safety planning, benefits and housing options. You will assist women to access counselling and legal advice.
This role includes an exciting opportunity to set up and promote a JWA outreach service in Redbridge, where you will be based one day a week.
You’ll be enthusiastic, empathetic and creative, and able to work independently. You will already have experience of advice work with vulnerable groups, ideally with women. Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the Jewish community is also essential.
