This course is designed to assist local areas in developing their violence against women and girls strategy (VAWG) which needs to be in place by April 2011.
Practical guidance will be given to help participants create a realistic road map for their locality, building upon existing local domestic violence strategies and incorporating survivors’ views.
Participants will be encouraged to explore diversity issues as a key element of creating an effective approach.
Learning objectives
* To gain an understanding of all forms of violence against women and girls
* To understand the legislative and policy context on which VAWG strategies can be based.
* To create a persuasive case to ‘sell’ your strategy to the decision makers (and funders!)
* To share ideas about different structures, approaches and delivery mechanisms

* People who hold responsibility for developing a violence against women strategy for their organisation or area or who wish to influence their local approach.
