FORWARD seeks new Trustees
The Foundation for Women’s Health Research and Development (FORWARD) is an African Diaspora women’s campaign and support charity. We support the sexual and reproductive health and rights of African women and girls, and tackle harmful practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM) and child and forced marriages. Our vision is that women and girls live in dignity, are healthy, have choices and equal opportunities. We have programmes in the UK and in Africa.
Chair of the Board of Trustees
We are looking for a committed and dynamic person to lead the ambitious Board of Trustees and dedicated staff. You will provide strategic direction and lead the organisation to implement its new strategic plan and realise its vision.
To undertake this role you will have strong strategic leadership skills, and passionate about improving the lives of African women and girls. You will work actively with the Executive Director to deliver FORWARD’s strategic goals and programme objectives. You will have excellent communication and presentation skills as you will be required to represent FOPRWARD at local and international level. Ideally you will have good experience of working with the voluntary sector, and African women’s health and rights. We particularly welcome applications from African women.
Board of Trustee Members
FORWARD is looking for interested and passionate people to join our board of trustees and ensure that the organisation has the relevant skills set to help direct and govern the organisation. We would like applicants from a variety of backgrounds particularly those with marketing, media, fundraising and advocacy skills. We would particularly welcome applicants from ethnic minority men who are currently underrepresented on our board.
These roles are non-executive and voluntary and you will be expected to attend four formal meetings each year and may be required to sit on the trustee committees.
