Details: Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom is looking for two interns to support our campaigning work.

Half of the intern’s time will be spent supporting the administrative needs of the organisation, and the other half will be spent on EITHER the ‘Building the Organisation’ campaign OR working on WILPF’s on-going Human Security not Military Security campaign.

The Building the Organisation” campaign will focus on communicating our messages and campaigns more effectively to both the current membership and branches and to a wider audience. It will also involve work with other members of the organisation to increase the membership of UK WILPF and the reach of its branches and student groups. Work will include:
* Collaborating with the membership and campaign teams to promote current campaigns
* Developing opportunities to build the membership of UKWILPF
* Developing our communication strategies and outreach including the website and use of social media
* Coordinating media engagement in collaboration with the communications team, and other tasks as required.

Human Security not Military Security” is one of WILPF’s on-going campaigns. This involves developing a campaign relevant to the situation in the UK to engage the WILPF membership and the wider public to promote women, peace and security. Current work has focused on opposing Trident Renewal. Work will include producing campaign material, communicating with branches and members and identifying relevant priorities.

Each position is for a minimum of 10 hours/week over 2 days for the duration of a minimum of 3 months.

WILPF is an international NGO with National Sections in 35 countries. WILPF has consultative status with the UN to formally lobby the UN and its agencies on issues related to peace, disarmament and economic justice. WILPF was founded in 1915 when 1300 women met to protest against a war in Europe. WILPF is the oldest women’s peace organisation. WILPF continues to campaign for peace, justice, equality and the full enjoyment of human rights for all.
