MA Woman and Child Abuse + Short course on Violence Against Women – CWASU – October 2010

Courses run by the Child and Woman Abuse Studies Unit (CWASU) at London Metropolitan University still have places left for an October 2010 start.

Short Course On Violence Against Women (6 days)

This course covers:
* a historical overview of feminist theory in relation to violence against women
* violence against women: frameworks, framings and methods;
* intimate partner violence; rape and sexual assault;
* harmful traditional practices in a globalised world;
* sexual exploitation and trafficking; issues and debates.

MA Woman And Child Abuse

Full-time: 1 year, evening and day
Part-time: 2 years, evening and day
Starting September and February

There are four core modules on the M.A., detailed below, with a further two modules that can be chosen from a list, and a dissertation on a topic of your choice:
* Violence Against Women: issues, research and policy
* Sexual Exploitation of Children and Young People
* Sexual Violence: causes, consequences and interventions
* Researching Communities.

Postgraduate certificates in Child Abuse; Violence Against Women; Child and Woman Abuse are also available.

The MA and short courses are aimed at professionals who are working within or developing service provision and / or policy within the field, as well as other professionals and students with an interest in developing their knowledge or entering a career in this field.
