Community Support Worker North of England – Jewish Women’s Aid – 22nd October 2010
Jewish Women’s Aid is the only charity in the UK working with Jewish women, and their children, affected by domestic violence. We run a refuge, community support service, helpline and education and awareness raising programmes.
We are currently looking to recruit a Community Support Worker North of England
Based in Manchester
18 hours per week
from £24,576 (pro rata), depending on experience
One year fixed-term contract
The JWA community support service (currently based in London) provides a vital lifeline for women experiencing physical, emotional, financial and sexual abuse. The team offers practical and emotional support including: key work, risk assessment, advocacy, safety planning and benefits and immigration advice. They also assist women to access counselling and legal advice.
It is envisaged that this post will expand JWA’s outreach work into the North of England. Based at the Manchester Federation of Jewish Services and working in partnership with them, the worker will publicise and set up the new service and manage a case load of clients.
You’ll be enthusiastic, empathetic and creative, and able to work independently. You will already have experience of working with vulnerable groups, ideally with women. Knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and the Jewish community is also essential.
