The Advocacy & Training team at the nia project has the following vacancies:
Independent Domestic Violence Advocates
HARINGEY IDVA SERVICE
Post 1
This post holder will provide casework for women referred to Haringey’s Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)
- Full time (35 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
£26 024 p.a. (including LW)
Fixed Term: to 31 March 2011
Post 2
This post holder will provide casework for women referred to Haringey’s MARAC and will develop referral pathways with Haringey CSU
- Part time (28 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
£26,928 p.a (pro rata including LW

HACKNEY IDVA SERVICE
Post 1
This post holder will provide casework for women referred to Hackney’s MARAC and will have expertise in working with clients with problematic substance use issues
- Part time: (24 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
£26,928 p.a pro rata including LW
Fixed Term: to 31 March 2011
Post 2
This post holder will provide casework for women referred to Hackney’s MARAC and will have responsibility for working with women from the Vietnamese community.
- Full time (35 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
£26,024 p.a. including LW
30 days annual leave entitlement excluding public holidays (pro rata)
Fixed Term: to 31March 2011
The Independent Domestic Violence Advocates will work with women from LB Haringey and Hackney who have been identified as at high risk of domestic violence. They will provide information, support and advocacy through intensive interventions to enable women and children from the borough to live free from violence and abuse.
The IDVAs will work within a multi agency framework and will deliver services in partnership with the statutory and voluntary agencies which make up Hackney and Haringey’s Multi Agency Risk Assessment Conference and Specialist Domestic Violence Court.
The post holders will have extensive experience of risk assessment and safety planning and of providing advice, support and advocacy to victim/survivors of domestic violence. They will be confident about working with professional colleagues and advocating for their clients within a multi agency partnership.

Health Advocate/educator
- Full time (35 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
£26 024 p.a. (including London weighting)
Fixed Term: to 31 March 2011
The Health Advocate/educator will be providing a dedicated Advocacy service to selected GP practices in Hackney and will also be delivering training to GPs, Practice Nurses and support staff in accordance with the IRIS model.
The post holder will have experience of providing advocacy to women who have been affected by domestic and sexual violence and will be confident in delivering training to and working in partnership with professionals. The post holder should also have a good awareness of the impact of gender violence on health of survivors.
