Film Screening of the acclaimed film ‘Moolaade’ celebrating 25 years of FORWARD’s work – 7th December 2010

Moolaadé is set in Burkina Faso, where four young girls have fled the ritual of ‘purification’ and seek protection-‘moolaadé’-with Collé, a circumcised woman who helped her own daughter escape excision 7 years earlier. In defiance of traditionalists within the village, Collé grants the girls sanctuary and the scene is set for a tense confrontation between opposing values.

Ousmane Sembène’s powerful film, ‘Moolaadé’, challenges gender inequality and celebrates the strength of African women.

The film screening will be followed a Q&A session.
