the nia project provides a wide range of services for women and children who have experienced domestic violence and other forms of gender violence.
East London Rape Crisis Service
the nia project has received funding from the Mayor of London in association with LB Redbridge and 6 other East London Boroughs in order to provide a comprehensive service for survivors of sexual violence.
We are recruiting for the following posts
Post 1 Manager
The ELRC Manager will play a key role in developing a new service and maintaining high levels of quality and contract compliance. She will take responsibility for staff management and supervision and day to day delivery of the service. The Manager will have experience of line managing in a violence against women organisation or similar and extensive knowledge of sexual violence.
Hours: full time, 35 hours per week
Salary: £34,785 p.a
Post 2 Advocate/educator
The ELRC Advocate/educator will deliver a dual role for the service. She will provide an advocacy service to female survivors, assisting clients with issues such as reporting crimes to the police, supporting through court cases, supporting to access appropriate medical and other services. The Advocate/educator will also raise awareness of sexual violence to agencies and organisations across East London. She will have experience of delivering training and advocating for women affected by sexual violence.
Hours: full time: 35 hours per week
Salary: £26,928 p.a.
Post 3 Senior Counsellor
The ELRC Senior Counsellor will co-ordinate the counselling service operating from 2 sites, provide clinical supervision and support the manager in the development of the service. The Senior Counsellor will have a minimum of 3 years experience of working as a counsellor working with trauma/ domestic violence/sexual abuse/ violence, a counselling diploma and be accredited.
Hours: part time 24 hours per week
Salary: £33,777 p.a. pro rata
The East London Rape Crisis Service is presently funded until 31.03.12
Additional vacancies at the nia project
Post 4 Health Advocate/educator
The Health Advocate/educator will be providing a dedicated Violence against Women Advocacy service to patients at GP practices in Hackney and will also be delivering training to GPs, Practice Nurses and support staff in accordance with the IRIS model.
Hours: full time (35 hours per week) including some evenings and weekends
Salary: £26,024 p.a.
Term: post is currently funded to 31 March 2011
Post 5 Senior Family Learning Worker (Children and Young Peoples Service)
The Family Learning Project is a pan-London Project working with mothers/carers and their children (0-16 yrs) from Black, minority ethnic and refugee communities who have been affected by domestic violence. Family learning opportunities will be offered to enable mothers/carers and their children to learn together, developing new skills such as cookery, crafts and IT, whilst also developing parenting skills.
* The Senior Family Learning Worker will lead on the Family Learning Project as well as having a hands-on role in delivery.
* The postholder will have experience of both leading projects as well as family support work, preferably with mothers/carers and children who have experienced violence and/or from BMER communities
Full Time (35hrs/week) including some evenings and weekends
Fixed Term Contract until 31st May 2011
