WEN is seeking Trustees
Who we are
Women’s Environmental Network is the only organisation in the UK working consistently for women and the environment. For more than two decades we have had a track record of being the first to raise awareness on many environmental issues affecting women, especially those concerning women’s health.
What Do We Do?
* we speak at national and international conferences and are invited to respond formally to government policy and proposed legislation.
* we support local community groups across the country,
* we work with minority ethnic groups who want to grow fruit and vegetables,
* we research and educate on health, sanitary care, climate change and beauty products,
* we lobby and campaign on environmental justice,
* we partner with like-minded organisations on key issues,
* we provide education and training and
* we empower women to make positive choices that benefit their families, their communities and our planet.
Become a WEN Trustee
WEN is a small organisation with just four part-time staff in the national office. As such the trustees play a large role in managing staff and providing direction for the organisation.
We are currently looking for two qualified individuals who can bring some of the following skills to our team:
* Media – able to act as a WEN spokesperson and act as a media contact when necessary, giving interviews and writing press releases
* Communications and Marketing – able to support staff in developing a communications strategy as well as high quality communication materials
* Policy and Campaigning – experience in policy development around environmental issues as well as campaigning expertise
Time Commitment
We meet once a month on a Tuesday evening at the WEN office in Tower Hamlets. Because the organisation is small the board members tend to play quite a large role supporting staff although this varies from person to person and month to month. We would expect trustees to contribute on average 2 to 3 hours per month in addition to the monthly meeting.
