Volunteer Description The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (also known as Rape Crisis South London) has over 25 years experience in providing specialist support to women and girls who have survived sexual violence.
 
The Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (RASASC) is looking for capable and enthusiastic interns who would like to work with us to end violence against women. You will be working in our Operations department, providing invaluable support in the preparing and delivering of training and prevention programmes. We will provide you with our in-house accredited training programme on sexual violence for free, experience of working within the voluntary sector and a reference upon successful completion of the internship.
 
MAIN TASKS:
* To assist with all aspects of RASASC training and prevention programmes and liaise with external organisations.
* To proactively identify agencies/organisations which would benefit from sexual violence training (eg teacher training colleges, NHS etc); to initiate and contact such agencies.
* To research violence against women initiatives and the work of Rape Crisis Centres in order to inform the training.
* To keep up to date with government guidelines and policies for statutory agencies on issues relating to Violence Against Women and Girls and provide clear summaries to Coordinator.
* To carry out administration tasks relating to the training and prevention programmes
 
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
 
Required:
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in carrying out research and writing reports
* Experience in using Microsoft Word and Excel
* Understanding of the issues surrounding sexual violence against women and girls
* Commitment to the Rape Crisis ethos
 
Desirable:
* Experience in creating/delivering training, workshops or awareness raising talks
* Knowledge of the school system, NHS, legal profession
* We are looking for females who can commit to the organisation for at least three days a week, for at least three months.
