AVA open training courses – various cities – May, June and July 2011
AVA provides a variety of open training courses that take place at a range of venues across the UK.
- Working with children and young people exposed to domestic violence and related violence against women and girls, 4 May, London
- This 5 day course is delivered from 10am-4.30pm, one day a week over five weeks and will take place on Wednesday 4th, Wednesday 11th, Thursday 19th, Tuesday 24th and Tuesday 31st May 2011.
- AVA is an OCN accredited centre that has developed an accredited training course for practitioners working with children and young people exposed to domestic violence and related violence against women and girls. The course is aimed at professionals wishing to deepen and consolidate their understanding of the issues with which they work and gain a formal qualification equivalent to A-level standard.
- This accredited course will equip you with an in-depth understanding of the issues related to children and young people exposed to domestic violence and related violence against women and girls in order that you may work more effectively in your role.
- Improving Your Working Relationships with Service Users Through Counselling Techniques, 12 May, London
- This course explores the means to develop a powerful working relationship with clients who have experienced violence against women and girls, through respect, fostering control, setting boundaries and being trustworthy.
- Recovering from the Impacts of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) – Unresolved Anger, 9 June, London
- This course is designed to help professionals identify signs of anger in women who have experienced violence and to explore ways of working with them.
- Recovering from the Impacts of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) – Injured Self-esteem, 23 June, London
- This course is designed to help professionals work with women who have experienced violence to improve their self-esteem.
- Young People and Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG), 6 July, Cardiff
- This course will focus particularly on the experiences of adolescents as victims and as perpetrators of violence against women and girls.
- Violence Against Women and Girls – Creating your approach, 8July, London
- This training and consultancy package will equip the participating local authority to produce a well-structured and workable local violence against women and girls strategy.
- Safeguarding Against Forced Marriage and so called Honour-based Violence, 12 July, Londonv
- The course is designed to increase participants’ knowledge and awareness of forced marriage, so called ‘Honour Based Violence’ and to offer space for reflection on current and future work approaches in order to operate within a good practice framework.
