Volunteer Befrienders – Haringey Women’s Forum

Haringey Women’s Forum provides a number of different women-only services to meet the needs of the local community. Underlying all of our work is a commitment to empowerment and creating opportunities for women.

Our Women Talking befriending service provides support to women who have experienced domestic abuse and has been up and running since September 2009. We are now recruiting for our next training course which will begin early May 2011. We are seeking women who are passionate about volunteering and supporting women who have experienced difficulties in relationships on a one-to-one basis.

You will need to be available for one day a week for nine weeks (on a Wednesday) from May onwards and following this available to befriend two hours a week for up to a year. In return you will receive payment of out of pocket expenses, extensive training and ongoing support in a supportive environment.

If you would like to find out more about the role and apply, please contact Clare at the Forum on 0208 885 4705 or by email clare@hwfonline.org.uk

All our volunteer roles are subject to satisfactory references and CRB clearance.
