“Honour Killings”: what do we know, how do we know it, and what can we do? – LFn – 14th May 2011

The London Feminist Network is pleased to announce its next feminar (feminist seminar!) on Saturday 14th May, 2pm. This feminar intends to raise awareness of “honour” killings among feminists, to educate and inform, and thereby generate support and action.

What do we know?
Speakers will give an overview of the important work they do helping women and raising awareness of “honour” killings, from the perspective of their experience, their organisation and their academic work.

How do we know it?
A thread running through the session will be about the media representation of “honour” killings, looking at how they are represented and, therefore, how the majority of people learn about and form opinions on this issue.

What can we do?
Speakers will tell us about their activism and the work of organisations who help women and families affected by “honour” killings, and let us know how women in London can help.
