‘Life in a day’ coming to cinemas June 17th, buy a ticket and support Refuge

Are you a movie buff who wants to watch something a bit different and support Refuge at the same time?

‘Life in Day’ is a ground breaking film by Academy Award-winning director Kevin Macdonald and opens in cinemas across the UK on 17 June. The idea was borne out of a unique partnership between Ridley Scott’s Scott Free UK production company and YouTube. The film was shot on a single day, July 24, 2010, that enlisted people around the world to capture a moment of their lives on camera.

Life in a day

More than 80,000 videos were submitted representing over 4,500 hours of deeply personal, powerful films. Contributions poured in from 197 countries from Australia to Zambia, Peru to Ukraine, UK to Japan, from the heart of bustling cities to the furthest and most remote reaches of the earth.

We have teamed up with Scott Free UK Production Company to raise funds for Refuge through tickets sales. Buy a ticket and help us reach out and support many women and children who feel alone, scared and confused. They feel they have no options, nowhere to turn and this needn’t be the case. Refuge runs a range of services which protect women and children living in fear: from refuges to legal advocacy and community outreach schemes. It gives women and children a chance to start a new life in safety.

Refuge opened the world’s very first refuge 40 years ago. We now need your support to survive, and to grow, so that Refuge can reach out to more women and children who urgently need vital services to rebuild their lives. Please help ensure that Refuge can be here for as long as women and children need support by buying a ticket to watch a ‘Life in a day’. 25% of the sale of the ticket will go to Refuge. You can either visit http://www.lifeinadayuk.me/refuge and buy a ticket or you flex your movie making muscle by visiting http://www.lifeinadayuk.me/. You can make your own mini mogul site where you can create your own poster and/or short film and share it with your friends, family and work mates.

Please do support Refuge and help us reach out to women and children who need us the most.
