Job Title: CAST Volunteer Administrator (Part time)
Based at: 44 Portland Place, London, W1B 1NE.
Accountable to: Manager (CAST)
Job Purpose: To provide administrative support to the CAST staff team
Responsible for: None

JOB DESCRIPTION
Purpose of the post:
To assist the CAST staff team to deliver the services by completing day-to-day administrative support tasks. This work will include the regular use of a variety of software packages such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and Access, etc. The post holder will be required to have excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Some understanding of voluntary sector organisations and how they function will be required.
MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. To support the CAST staff team by:
- a. Contributing to and maintaining office systems
b. Responding to telephone and email queries and transfer messages to CAST staff as appropriate
c. Responding to office deliveries
d. To meet and greet any visitors
e. Booking room space (where appropriate)
f. Maintaining CAST’s resource database up to date
2. To provide administrative support to facilitate the smooth running and delivery of CAST’s services by:
- a. Performing general clerical duties including but not limited to photocopying, faxing, mailing and filing
b. Ensuring soft and hard copy student data is recorded and updated as required
c. Ensuring mail outs take place within specified times
d. Producing letters, taking and typing up meeting minutes
3. Other:
- a. Undertaking other duties appropriate to the post that may from, time to time be requested
b. To complete basic health and safety checks
c. Verbal reporting to the CAST Manager
d. Work at all times within the policies and procedures of the CAST
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Qualifications and Experience
- × The candidate is to have GCSE’s in English and Maths (grade A – C). Further formal qualifications are not essential however experience of work in a relevant administrative capacity is required.
× Excellent reading, writing and numeracy skills required.
× Computer literate with experience of using IT Microsoft Office applications, particularly, Access, Excel and Word. This includes reporting up to date information to CAST web support.
× Some knowledge of how voluntary sector organisations function would be desirable
Skills and Knowledge
- × An understanding of issues around mental health and substance misuse and the issues facing women in the criminal justice system is desirable but not essential.
× Excellent numeracy skills
× Excellent administrative skills
× Excellent written and verbal communication
× Excellent interpersonal skills
× Ability to contribute to and maintain CAST’s website

The successful candidate will have some experience in an administrative role and some knowledge of or interest in the issues affecting our client group.
This role would suit a new graduate or someone looking to gain experience in the women’s charity sector.
