Join Feminist Fightback to demonstrate against the EDL’s ‘Angel’s’ march on Downing Street this Saturday 8th October 2011
‘Angels’ is the vomit-inducing name given to the women’s division of the English Defence League. This fascist organisation has previously tried to claim that it supports women’s rights – though such hollow rhetoric presumably doesn’t include the rights of women of … colour or migrant women.
It is therefore crucial that a strong feminist presence is felt on the counter-demonstration, called for by Unite Against Fascism. The struggle for gender liberation cannot be separated from the fight against racism. And any anti-fascist movement we build needs to have feminism at the heart of it if we are to successful challenge the EDL’s superficial appropriation of gender equality.
Meet at Saturday 8th Oct 12 noon Downing Street, London SW1. Feminists, anti-racists and anti-fascists (of all genders and none) are most welcome. Bring your own placards and anything that will make a noise.
