Poppy Project Training Workshops – Eaves – 16th November and 2nd December 2011
The Poppy Project is running a series of training events for statutory and voluntary agencies to enhance awareness of adult human trafficking with a focus on supporting female victims.
Cost:
£100 (statutory agencies)
or £75 (voluntary agencies)
Workshop Aims
- Aim 1: To provide you with an overview of national and international policy and legislation as it applies to victims of trafficking, including the Council of Europe Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings.
Aim 2: To ensure you are able to identify a victim of trafficking and understand the principles of sensitive victim identification, including an introduction and overview of the National Referral Mechanism.
Aim 3: To promote best practice in victim care, including principles of intervention. To provide guidelines on the provision of support services which prioritise the safety and well-being of victims.
Aim 4: To provide an overview of the rights, entitlements and options for victims of trafficking, including
access to support, justice, compensation and protection.

Both workshops run from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Lunch and refreshments included.

Who should attend?
Anyone in the statutory, voluntary or community sectors in contact with female victims of trafficking, including women’s organisations, housing and support services, asylum seeker support services, social services and community safety groups.

Each workshop is at intermediate level and you do not need prior knowledge of trafficking to participate. These workshops are not aimed at immigration advisers/ practitioners.
