| Outline Description |
Main purpose of job: working within women@thewell’s policy and procedural framework to develop and implement services that provide effective, high quality support to vulnerable women
- with a history of involvement in pavement culture, particularly those sexually exploited through their involvement in street based prostitution and/or the criminal justice system
- who have experienced trafficking.
Duties include:
- Management of the development and operation of open access drop-in including the development of new services based on the needs of vulnerable women and all aspects of the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to service delivery.
- Responsibility for ensuring effective liaison and work with both statutory and non-statutory local agencies to support specific service users and create beneficial partnerships to increase the support available to vulnerable women.
- Supervision of support workers, including ensuring that weekly and daily debriefs and handover meetings take place and leading monthly team meetings. Coordinating volunteer involvement in the organisation particularly those involved in service delivery.
- Responsible for ensuring the production and maintenance of accurate and useful information in a range of formats, in order to promote effective service delivery and evaluation.
- Responsible for ensuring the assessment of behavioural and health and safety risks associated with individual women attending open drop-in sessions and determining appropriate actions which are both sensitive to the needs of the woman and the group as a whole.
women@thewell is small innovative charity based in central London, founded to provide a uniquely holistic and multi-faceted range of services to vulnerable women caught in multiple cycles of abuse and social exclusion, equipping them with the skills, resources and support that they need, to successfully rejoin society.
At women@thewell, services are provided for women by women on a drop-in and planned basis and focus on improving the quality of the lives of vulnerable women through providing a supportive and stable environment to which they can come to access the help they need in order to rebuild their lives. Our work also helps to divert women away from the criminal justice system and out of unhealthy and dangerous situations. We help women to work towards the following individual outcomes:
- Feeling physically safe
- Building supportive relationships
- Having self-confidence and self-esteem
- Feeling happier
- Making choices about their future
The aims of women@thewell can be summarised as follows:
- To provide a women centred women only space which enables vulnerable women to identify their needs and make positive changes.
- To influence and advocate on behalf of vulnerable women.
- To work in partnership and build alliances in order to develop a more cohesive approach to meeting the needs of vulnerable women.
- To provide involvement opportunities and engage with the community.
- To achieve standards of excellence and exhibit best practice across the organisation.
women@thewell is a resource, which is dedicated to women, giving them a chance to prioritise their needs, and work in partnership to find new ways of meeting those needs. The role of volunteering within women@thewell is central to its approach, involving the organisation and its clients in equal measure |
