‘The Secret Pain’ – Zero Tolerance to FGM day Film Screening – Forward – 15th February 2012
To mark International Zero Tolerance to FGM Day FORWARD presents a screening of ‘The Secret Pain’
Having lived with foster parents since the age of seven, Kate Kendel returned aged sixteen to her biological family in Sierra Leone, where she was forced to undergo FGM. Now she takes us back to Sierra Leone, where the ‘Bundu’ secret society who perform FGM are so powerful and so feared that no government has dared to challenge them.

The film will be followed by a panel session and Q & A, where the panellists will be:

* Amina Doherty, feminist, women’s rights activist and FRIDA co-ordinator (invited)
