How do you progress your career in tough times? – Women in Publishing ~ 14th March 2012

Join Women in Publishing for our March meeting (14 March 2012)

How do you progress your career in tough times? How do you keep on top of your game? Negotiate the best salary? Get the best projects? Compete in a competitive market? Or find a new job (or keep freelance) when there don’t seem to be that many jobs (or freelance assignments) out there?

Pandora –Award winning Suzanne Collier, will be on hand to answer these questions and more to ensure that you have the best opportunity to make a success of your career – and have fun whilst you are doing it.

Suzanne Collier started bookcareers.com in 1999, alongside her full time publishing job, and since then her name has become synonymous with publishing careers, and she has built her reputation on giving good independent careers advice about the industry. As well as helping hundreds of people reach their own career goals, she helps those who need to recover from redundancy, work-place bullying and work-related stress or start their own business. Suzanne also runs the bookcareers.com Salary Survey which consistently identifies the differentials between male and female employees within the industry. In 2009/10 during the worst of the recession, Suzanne set up a Job Club for unemployed publishers, where she gave her time freely; in this period alone Suzanne helped over 40 people back to work. She was the youngest person ever to Chair the Society of Young Publishers, a record she still holds today, and the only person to Chair the organisation more than once (5 times in 10 years).
