Women in Prison (WIP) is a unique, women-centred national charity providing specialist support services and campaigning for better recognition of the rights of women affected by the criminal justice system both in prison and the community.

We have the following vacancies:

Counsellor – The Triangle Project
£ 26,662per annum (35 hrs per week) – 3 year fixed contract

We are seeking to recruit an experienced counsellor to provide short-term counselling to women ex-offenders both in prison and in the community. You will provide one-to-one, short-term therapeutic interventions to individual women and facilitate therapeutic groups together with emotional literacy/self-esteem workshops.

You will need significant experience of working with vulnerable women and knowledge of the psychological impact of imprisonment on women. A post-graduate diploma/degree in counselling and BACP or UKCP accreditation (or eligibility for accreditation) is essential.

Advice Worker – The Triangle Project
£24,786 per annum (35 hrs per week) – 3 year fixed contract

The post holder will provide advice and support to women across 7 female prisons. Your role will include completing initial assessments, providing advice and signposting women prisoners to external agencies in order to meet their legal, emotional, education, housing, substance misuse and family support needs; as well as working in a group setting to support women with independent living skills.

You will have a women centred needs-led holistic approach to your work, with excellent assessment and communication skills. A solid understanding and knowledge of issues affecting women in prison is required, as is experience of delivering advice, guidance, group work and support services to vulnerable women both in a custodial and community setting. A recognised IAG qualification is essential.

Through the Gate Worker – North – The Triangle Project.
£21,786 per annum (35hours per week) – 3 year fixed contract.

The post holder will provide Through the Gate services for women across 6 female prisons in the North of England. Your role will include providing advocacy, support and advice services to women prisoners prior to and upon their release into the local community as well as developing community based resources for women on release. You will have a women centred needs-led holistic approach to your work, with excellent assessment and communication skills. A solid understanding and knowledge of issues affecting women in prison is required, as is experience of delivering both community and group work based interventions.
