Women in London – an internet directory

• is intended to allow women’s groups and other groups providing services and support, as well as campaigns or media / art productions for women, the opportunity to use the internet to reach both individual women and other support services, in an immediate and direct way, at minimal cost and effort
• wants to help groups working for women to quickly and easily make their details available via the internet as it rapidly expands to become an everyday medium of communication
• hopes to help both individual women and also support agencies looking for appropriate services to find these quickly and directly at a site with the shared focus of listings by and for women
• does do not see a shared site as taking the place of a group’s own web site, as a directory listing acts as a signpost to that resource
• sees the existence of the site as a way of making an affirmative statement that the work of women’s groups continues to exist and evolve in response to the changing needs of women

Please note that following consultation with groups that are part of the directory it was agreed that we would not include information about women’s businesses and commercial ventures (March 2006).

However mutual support networks for women in business are welcome or you may like to list yourselves as part of the Mapping Women’s Network Project (free).

It was also further agreed by groups that we would continue to only list to women’s groups and support services within the greater London area (May 2008).
