Lesbian and Gay Employment Rights is launching a survey of lesbians and gay men and employment. The survey includes an exploration of needs, concerns, and experiences of harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Lesbians and gay men who want to participate in the project are encouraged to contact LAGER at the address below. Whilst the project is intended to be fully inclusive, the first step will comprise consultation with, and a survey questionnaire for, lesbians and gay men from 'black', Asian and other ethnic minority groups. The project will be important in informing those responsible for implementing new legislation relating to two European Framework Directives - on employment and 'race'. The employment directive will offer new protection from harassment and discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation. The project is funded by Association of London Boroughs and Unison and has attracted support from an increasing number of other trade unions including Fire Brigades Union, MSF and TGWU. In light of impending changes to your rights at work - as a lesbian or gay man - it is important that you have your say. For further details contact:
Maria Lin Wong, Research Officer, LAGER, Unit 1G Leroy House, 436 Essex Road, London, N1 3QP The survey questionnaire will shortly be available on LAGER's website: http://www.lager.dircon.co.uk 14th October 2002
