Survey of Users - July / August 2000 - Introduction

Women in London started as a simple directory of groups on the internet in late February 1999 and since then has changed and expanded to have other features.  The concept and later developments came out of the context ('culture') of London based women's groups and other groups working for women in London ('the voluntary sector').  However, although the number of users continues to increase, we have no real idea of the reasons why anyone chooses to visit the Directory.  So the purpose of the survey is to ask you as a user to take the time to tell us:
  • What you think about the site ...
  • Why you visit the site ...
  • And a bit about yourself
Some of the questions may not seem that interesting or important, but we would ask you to answer those you can, as we want to compare them to the answers we got from the groups listed on the Directory who we surveyed last month.  We will make public the results, and hope that this will be a two way process that will not only inform us and the groups on the directory about users and their expectations, but also give users some insight into the work and aims of the groups (for whom the Directory primarily exists).

With thanks for your co-operation and participation.  We look forward to receiving your comments.  microsyster - July 2000.
