Training Link

Training link is a small charity and a company limited by guarantee. It raises funds in order to support those people who are unable to meet training costs. 45% of the funding is from the European Social Fund. The remaining 55% come from income generating initiatives, course fees and other fundraising initiatives.

To support your 'Knowledge' training you will do a short work placement, participate in other training activities, i.e. basic motorbike mechanics, confidence building, health & safety disability awareness, and small business start-up.

How is the training structured?

The Knowledge Training programme is ongoing until you have completed. Training Link will support you through the first stage, over 26 weeks. Most of your training is spent riding around London on a moped learning the street names, one way systems and points of interest.

  • You will get help to plan your routes
  • Plan your own time on the road
  • You will be encouraged to find a 'call-over'
  • This will reinforce your learning and prepare you for appearances at the PCO.

    Individual Mentoring

  • You will have access to a mentor to help you through-out the training period
  • Once a month you will meet with other trainees and your support worker

This provides an opportunity for relevant training link staff to monitor, receive feedback on progress or on any difficulties arising.
