4 vacancies in July 2002 women's design service is at an exciting point in its 16 years as a unique resource on women and the urban environment. We have recently been awarded funding for two projects that will bring women into the heart of community safety and neighbourhood regeneration. WDS has four opportunities for women who want to make a difference to our towns and cities. Director (Ref 02/D) (PO3 Pt 38-41 £28,119-£30,363 inc. ILW Pro rata, pay award pending, 28 hours/week) We are seeking to recruit a new Director to lead the organisation into the next stage of its development. This is a great opportunity for someone with enthusiasm, commitment and passion about improving the urban environment in partnership with women. You will be experienced in project management, strategic development, fundraising and budgeting with a track record in the voluntary sector and working with women. You will be knowledgeable about the urban regeneration agenda. This is a permanent post funded by the Association of London Government and the Active Community Unit. Making Safer Places Policy Development Worker (Ref 02/PDW) (SO2 Pt 32-34 £24,348-£25,617 inc. ILW, pay award pending, 35 hours/week) Training Development Worker (Ref 02/TDW) (SO2 Pt 32-34, £24,348-£25,617 inc. ILW, pay award pending, 35 hours/week) If you are interested in making the urban environment a safer place, in partnership with women from a whole range of diverse communities, then one of these jobs could be for you. Making Safer Places is a new national project that will work with women in London, Bristol and Manchester, to influence and inform community safety policy and practice at neighbourhood, regional and national levels. You will be experienced in partnership working with women, community involvement, the urban regeneration agenda, and have a good knowledge of community safety and crime reduction. The Community Fund England is funding these posts for three years. Volunteering Development Worker (Ref 02/ACU) (SO2 Pt 32-34, £24,348-£25,617 inc. ILW Pro rata, pay award pending, 28 hours/week) Women's volunteering makes an essential contribution to healthy and thriving communities and without it much community development simply would not happen. The Volunteering Development Worker will work with women living in neighbourhood renewal areas in London to develop sustainable volunteering opportunities and encourage women to get involved in regeneration occurring on their doorsteps. You will be experienced in community development, working with women from a range of communities and networking and have a good knowledge of neighbourhood renewal and the wider regeneration agenda. The Active Community Fund is funding this post until March 2005.
