Aims of the event

This networking event will also be an opportunity to find out about:
  • Thriving BME community projects whose action tackles both degraded local environments and disadvantaged social conditions
  • The issue of environmental justice
  • Barriers to, and opportunities for, black and ethnic minority action for sustainability
  • Existing support and London networks for community groups linking social and environmental issues
  • Funding available to BME action for sustainability
This event is aimed at black and ethnic minority community groups, community development workers, voluntary organisations, local authority officers and representatives of community networks and local councils for voluntary services.

The event is organised by London 21 Sustainability Network, Capacity Global and the Women's Environment Network.

  • The event is free of charge and participants' travel expenses to the event can be reimbursed.  Booking is essential.
  • To register, please send your full name, organisation or group's name and contact details to Denny, London 21 Sustainability Network on 020 7359 8228 or info@london21.org.
  • The Brady Arts Centre's full address is 192-196 Hanbury Street, E1 5HU (Tel: 020 7 364 7900).
  • Please note that a footpath links the East end of Hanbury Street to Vallance Road, and the Brady Arts Centre is therefore just two minutes walk from Whitechapel Tube Station (Metropolitan and District Lines).
  • Turn right out of the tube station, walk to the next set of traffic lights (where Whitechapel Road meets Vallance Road), turn right and walk up the left-hand side of Vallance Road. Look out for the Hanbury Street sign after the next crossing on your left and the footpath.  The Brady Arts Centre is another 100 yards down Hanbury Street on your left.
  • Buses: 25, 253, 106, D3.
