Forced Marriage (1 Day)

The session is aimed at developing an understanding of forced marriage. The session will cover:

  • Definitions of forced and arranged marriage
  • Understanding the differences and similarities of the two
  • Knowledge of the cultural roots surrounding forced marriage
  • Information on marriage law
  • An insight into the effects of forced marriage
  • Tips on how to deal with forced marriage situations

Cultural & Religious Awareness (1 Day)
: 15 March 2007

The session is aimed at developing an understanding about domestic violence within a cultural context.

The session will cover:

  • Islam, Hinduism and Sikhism
  • The difference between culture and religion
  • Family structures within the South Asian community
  • Knowledge of domestic violence
  • Supporting clients from South Asian communities

Basic Domestic Violence (Half Day)
: 31 Janaury 2007 (9.30am - 1pm)
: 19 March 2007 (12.30pm - 5pm)

The session is aimed at developing a basic understanding and knowledge of domestic violence.

The session will cover:

  • What is Domestic Violence
  • Why do women stay
  • Impact of domestic violence on victims
  • Myths and stereotypes
  • Statistics
  • Providing support

Delegate Charges:

  • Full Day £85.00
  • Half day £50.00

Charges include training materials, buffet lunch (only for full day training events) and refreshments.
