Eaves : Lilith Project with Women and Girls Network Training

Counselling And Therapeutic Interventions For Working With Women Overcoming Experiences Of Violence: A Multicultural Approach

  • Course Dates: November 2006 – February 2007
  • Unit Titles: Counselling Knowledge, Counselling Skills, Personal Development, Issues for Survivors, Therapeutic and Holistic Techniques.
  • Closing date for completed applications: Monday 14th August 2006
  • Interview dates: Friday 25th August & Thursday 7th September 2006

The training programme is composed of fifteen sessions (2 days per week over a 3 month period) in a combination of lectures, exercises and role-plays.

The programme offers a pragmatic and comprehensive approach to working with the myriad of complex issues when working with survivors of all forms of violence. The course is framed within a feminist conceptualisation of violence and multicultural ideals, which challenge and deconstruct oppressive practices and promote anti discriminatory practice.

The course explores world healing models and offers a holistic approach to working with survivors. The promotion of standards of good practice and effective strategies are integrated throughout the programme. This course is aimed at women doing direct work within the violence against women field, such as counsellors, key-workers and support service workers. Previous counselling knowledge is desirable.

The Lilith Project is a pan-London agency committed to ending all violence against women. Women and Girls Network is a counselling centre for women and girls who have experienced any form of violence. Working from a feminist/womanist perspective with 18 years of clinical experience, Women and Girls Network offers a range of holistic services, counselling, complementary therapies and telephone helpline providing advice and information on a range of problems faced by women experiencing violence.
