GLDVP : Teenagers and Domestic Violence
Working with teenagers as victims and perpetrators of domestic violence

  • Date: Monday 17th November 2008
  • Costs - £75 vol / £120 stat
  • Course Description

    This course will expand on previous knowledge about domestic violence and will focus particularly on the experience of teenagers. Related issues will be covered such as:

  • violence towards parents,
  • teenage pregnancy,
  • specific issues faced by boys,
  • barriers to accessing services,
  • sexual violence and gangs
  • The course will explain how to ask about violence in teenagers own intimate relationships, how to give advice and how to risk assess and safety plan. There will be networking opportunities to discuss your own practice and meet other professionals working in similar fields.

    Who Should Attend?

    Anyone who works with teenagers for whom domestic violence is an issue. This course is primarily aimed at practitioners with previous training on domestic violence.

    Examples of workers who may benefit are:

  • Youth workers
  • YOT workers
  • Victim support staff
  • Teachers
  • Health visitors
  • Social workers
  • All training places take place at GLDVP's offices at 1 London Bridge.

  • For cancellations received up to one month before the course, a full refund will be made.
  • For cancellations received up to 7 days before the course, a 50% refund will be made.
  • For cancellations received less than 7 days before the course, a refund will not be made. Applicants are encouraged to send a replacement if they cannot attend.
