Learning Objectives

  • To gain basic awareness of substances and their effects
  • To learn about the myths and realities regarding substance misuse and domestic violence
  • To understand the legal and health issues surrounding drugs and drug use
  • To learn how to ask about drug/alcohol use and respond to disclosure
  • To learn ways of working with survivors who have additional substance problems

Who Should Attend?

  • Priority will be given to staff from front line domestic violence services who wish to improve their response to survivors who may have problematic substance use. Non-specialist staff are advised to attend the course 'The links between domestic violence and substance misuse' which is specifically designed for professionals who work in more generic fields and may be better suited to your needs.
