GLDVP Stella Project : Working Effectively with Domestic Violence: Practical Guidance for Drug and Alcohol Service Managers

  • Dates: 13 September & 20 November 2007 (1.5 days)
  • Costs: £150 (vol), £199 (stat)
  • The first day of the action orientated course will provide training on domestic violence, the links to substance use and examples of good practice in identifying risk and providing safety planning. Facilitators will work with participants to agree a task and timeframe for implementation within their individual agencies with the view to following up in the second session. Examples of tasks include the development of a domestic violence policy, implementation of positive screening or enhanced risk assessment procedures.

The second session will consist of a policy surgery where experts from the domestic violence field will be available to respond to the specific needs of participants. It will aim to seek solutions to problems encountered in implementing the task and allow for in-depth discussion with professionals in the field who have successfully made sustained change within their organisations.

One to one telephone advice will be available to participants in between the two sessions in order to support the change process within your agency.

For more information please telephone 020 7785 3862 or visit http://www.gldvp.org.uk/C2B/events/Event.asp?ID=127&CatID=4
