GLDVP Stella Project : Working Effectively with Drugs and Alcohol: Practical Guidance for Domestic Violence Service Managers
Dates: 25th September and 20th November 2007 (1.5 days)
Costs: £150 (vol), £199 (stat)
The first day of the course will provide basic training on drugs/alcohol, the links to domestic violence and what it means to work with survivors with additional drug or alcohol needs. Other topics covered include: the legal implications and policy issues surrounding drugs, practical skills to challenge difficult behaviour and the use of a common assessment tool. Facilitators will work with participants to agree a task and timeframe for implementation to take back to their agency and complete in preparation for the second session.
The second session will consist of a policy surgery where experts from the drug and alcohol field will be available to respond to the specific needs of participants. It will aim to seek solutions to problems encountered in implementing the task, and allow for in-depth discussion with professionals in the field who have successfully made sustained change within their organisations.
One to one telephone advice will be available to participants in between the two sessions in order to support the change process within your agency
