Hillcroft College : Community Participation & Leadership Courses Exclusively For Women

  • Study in a supportive environment with other women!
  • Build a new network while you learn!

Hillcroft College offers a range of courses designed for women who are already active in their communities or who wish to become more involved.

Our courses are designed to provide an overview of the community and voluntary sector and provide the skills, networks and understanding to run a well-managed organisation or group.

Understanding Volunteering 17-19 March 2006

This course is for women who are interested in Volunteering and would like to understand what is involved. You will cover the commitment a volunteer need to make; how to find the right organisation; whether volunteering affects benefits; training and skills development opportunities for volunteers

Managing Volunteers 21-23 April 2006

This course equips managers of volunteers with basic knowledge and skills to effectively manage volunteers. It will benefit new coordinators with little experience and lots of questions. It will also benefit experienced managers who wish to ensure best practice. You will cover working with volunteers; how volunteers differ from paid staff and motivations of volunteers; supervision, development and training of volunteers and how to produce job descriptions and recruit volunteers.

Fundraising – Where To Start? 5-7 May 2006

This course reviews the funding options available to small voluntary organisations and focuses on developing a winning project and writing the best possible application – with an eye to the National Lottery and grant-making trusts. It is for women in small organisations with little experience in fundraising.
