Explore Your Creative Self : 21-25 August
This course provides you with an opportunity to engage with both the visual and the performing arts and to take part in 'taster sessions'. You will meet practising artists, musicians and writers to help you find your own creative voice.
Subjects may include: drama, song writing, poetry writing, art, photography, video and drumming sessions. No prior experience or skill level is required in order to take part.
- Who is the course for?
Women interested in the arts, who wish to engage with study via self-expression. No formal qualifications are required.

Engagement with visual and performing arts and identification of major areas of interest for further creative studies.

Skills for Work Assessment : 8-10 September
This weekend offers you an opportunity to gain an understanding of the skills you will need in the modern workplace. You will audit your own skills and develop a learning plan to help you achieve your career goals. Included in this plan will be transferable workplace skills such as interpersonal and communication skills, IT, report writing and working with numbers (for example basic budgeting).
- Who is the course for?
Women who want to enrol on Employability courses at Hillcroft or who would like help to establish their current skills and learning needs in order to gain or improve their work prospects.

Internal College Certificate or National Award in Personal Development
- Intended Learning
You will analyse your workplace strengths and weaknesses, complete an audit of your IT, report writing and number skills. You will alsoprepare a personal statement based on your own goals and develop an individual learning plan

New Beginnings : 15-17 September
The course offers Initial Assessment and Information, Advice and Guidance for those seeking a new start or wanting to change the direction of their lives. It also offers activities to boost confidence andself esteem through art, music or drama.
During the weekend you will explore a range of possibilities and have some fun with other women in a peaceful space. You will be provided with information about possible education and training routes and the best entry point for you personally following initial assessment of your needs.
The course includes opportunities to:
- Look at confidence and self-esteem and how to boost these aspects in your daily life
- Explore your creative side by taking part in some artistic activities
- Use a computer programme to explore career options (with tutor support)
- Assess your current study skills and your possible need for additional support with Writing, IT and Maths (if appropriate).
- Who is the course for?
Women who want to return to study and/or to gain some qualifications but who are unsure about their current level of achievement and how to plan their future studies.

You will - participate in an assessment and Information, Advice and Guidance session, produce an Individual Learning Plan and gain confidence to plan your future.

A gentle introduction to the elements that contribute to self-esteem and a sense of wholeness. You will explore the factors affecting self-image and learn how to work towards changing negative thinking. The course is a first step towards becoming more assertive and some students may wish to progress on to the assertiveness course.

Women who want to consider the issues of confidence and self esteem and who would like to boost these aspects in their everyday life.

Informal assessment and internal College Certificate
- Intended Learning
You will consider the impact of low self-esteem on confidence, learn ways to overcome negative thinking and change your behaviour. You will also evaluate and celebrate yourself and your achievements.
