Women's Design Service : What Is "Gender Equality"?
The New Gender Equality Law
- About Us
- Women's Design Service is the only UK organisation working specifically on gender and built environment issues. We have been carrying out research, producing guidelines and organising training and conferences since 1987. We aim to ensure that the design and use of the built environment refl ects the needs and aspirations of women.
- About The New Legislation
- The Public Sector Duty on Gender Equality makes it incumbent on all public bodies, as well as private and voluntary bodies acting on public matters, to abide by the legislation. So, what does "Gender Equality" mean for built environment professionals?
- About The Training
- Women's Design Service is offering CPD accredited training to architects, designers, planners, engineers and surveyors to raise awareness of the issues that will need to be addressed under the new legislation. During the day's training participants will learn why gender matters for the built environment, what the requirements of the legislation will be and what changes they can make in their practice to promote gender equality.
- Costs
- The cost is £575 per head for courses based at Tindlemanor in London EC1. For in-house groups of up to 10 participants, we can come to you for a greatly reduced fee of £2,500.
